Frequently Asked Questions

Question: Can Youth Music share information about our project or event on its social media platforms?

Answer: We’re committed to supporting our funded partners, but unfortunately we are unable to share or promote individual projects or events on our social media channels. This is because most events and projects are relevant to a small local audience, whereas our audience is nationwide.

However, we encourage you to submit any events, jobs and other paid opportunities on our Opportunities page.

Question: How can I get a quote from Youth Music for my press release?

Answer: Email your request to comms@youthmusic.org.uk. Please include a draft of the press release if possible so we can understand the context, or at minimum a description of the story you are planning. We’ll get back to you within one working week.

Question: Our project is going to be featured on radio/in a newspaper. What should we say about Youth Music and our funding?

Answer: You can say: “This project is backed by Youth Music, thanks to [the National Lottery via Arts Council England / players of People’s Postcode Lottery].”

You can also get in touch with our communications team comms@youthmusic.org.uk and for a bespoke quote.

Q:uestion Does Youth Music offer guidance on ownership and copyright issues?

Answer: Unfortunately, we’re unable to offer specific advice on ownership and copyright matters. However, we recommend visiting this guide to using copyrighted images by Charity Digital for more information.

Question: What will Youth Music do with the pictures/videos/audio we attach to our funding reports?

Answer: When you submit content with your funding reports, there's an option on the form to grant us permission to use these materials. If you choose to give permission, we may use them in our external communications. This helps us showcase the impact and success of our funded partners.

Question: Youth Music’s logo doesn’t fit with our new branding – can we change the colour/font?

Answer: Youth Music’s and our funder’s logos must not be edited in terms of colour or shape.

Question: We can’t share your logo on our website/on socials. Will that stop us from getting our payments?

Answer: If you’re unable to share Youth Music’s or our funder’s logos on our website and/or social media, please contact your Grants and Learning Officer for advice.

Question: We're struggling to gain reach and engagement on our social media posts.

Answer: While we're unable to provide one-to-one advice on social media engagement, we highly recommend exploring the resources section at the end of this communications toolkit. These resources offer valuable information and advice that can help enhance your social media presence.
