Shining a much needed spotlight on young people, its focus was on the power of music and its capacity for creating change. Youth Music Awards 2019: Highlights The inspiring event kicked off with a performance from Battersea Arts Centre’s Beatbox Academy and Youth Music funded project, Drum Works. Nominees for the Live Performance Award sponsored by Marshall Amplification - Teshay Makeda, Mae Monypenny and Ls’z - took to the stage, each vying for the prize that was subject to an audience vote on the night.Chair of Youth Music, saxophonist and presenter YolanDa Brown, introduced the final section of live acts closing the show, including the New YVC from Stratford Circus in London, and soloists from Awards for Young Musicians (AYM).
